World-class Energy-saving Processes
Yield Abundant Chemical Resources
|
At the Kimitsu Works of Nippon Steel
Chemical, an efficient and integrated operating
system has been established that manufactures and supplies
coke to the Kimitsu Works of Nippon Steel Corporation and
then recovers the by-products. The Kimitsu Works is a world-class
example of an energy-saving production plant that incorporates
advanced technologies, such as coke dry-quenching that uses recovered
heat from coke to produce electric power and the control
of coal moisture to enable energy savings and the greater use of
inexpensive raw materials.
Recently, Nippon Steel Chemical has drawn upon its accumulated
technologies to manufacture and sell foundry coke in addition to
metallurgical coke. At the same time, the company promotes the
recycling of waste plastic packaging and containers by processing
them in steelworks coke ovens where they are converted into
chemical materials and recycled as hydrocarbon oil, coke and
coke-oven gas. Nippon Steel Chemical is strengthening its bonds
with the various steelworks of Nippon Steel with regard to cokeoven
operations, thereby consolidating its coke business with the
Nippon Steel Group in a tightly knit body. |
